Working Group Dogs

Dogs of the Working Group were bred to perform such jobs as guarding property, pulling sleds and performing water rescues. They have been invaluable assets to man throughout the ages. The Doberman Pinscher, Siberian Husky and Great Dane are included in this Group, to name just a few. Quick to learn, these intelligent, capable animals make solid companions. Their considerable dimensions and strength alone, however, make many working dogs unsuitable as pets for average families. And again, by virtue of their size alone, these dogs must be properly trained

General Meeting Minutes

Palmetto, FL

   March 28, 2009

 

I.      Call to order

Terry Goldman called to order the regular meeting of the Central Florida Working Group Association at 4:05 p.m. on March 28, 2009 in Palmetto, FL.

II.      Roll call

Roll call conducted via sign in sheet. The following persons were present:

III.      Approval of minutes from last meeting

The Minutes were approved as posted on the web site.

IV.      Education Committee

 

Education presentation presented by Dr. Mary McDaniel on Anatolian Shepherds.

 

Dan Galligan encouraged David Qualls to do a presentation.

 

Motion was made for Jeffrey Brucker to do the next presentation for educational purposes. Motion was made by Sheila Qualls and seconded by Mary McDaniel.

 

V.      Show Chairman Report

Next B match to be at the Orlando, Fl show site on June 20, 2009. Terry to check on availability of show site.

 

Mel has several ideas on raising funds for the match.

Mel is donating a picture to be raffled off starting at the Orlando show to raise money.

 

Proposal was tabled until Orlando meeting.

 

VI.      Constitution & By-Laws

 

David Qualls announced that our Constitution and By-Laws have been accepted by the AKC.

 

Webmaster Report

 

Bruce Cook reported that the web site has recently been updated with some changes to the menus.  An option will be added to be able to add the web site to your list of favorites. The new dog will for this month will be the Bernese Mountain Dog.

 

Motion was made to have Bruce Cook be in charge of public relations.

Motion was made by Mary McDaniel and seconded by Dan Galligan.

 

 

Terry Goldman suggested that we have a pin made with our logo to be given to the club members. Terry will obtain estimate of costs.

 

Jeffrey Brucker volunteered to do handling classes and make a donation to the club. This would be done in the future when membership is increased.

 

Suggestion was made in regard to creating a banner for the club to be used at booths promoting the CFWGA.

 

Four new membership applications were reviewed.

 

Feasibility committee

 

Corresponding secretary will be sending out letters to inquire about fees for renting various grounds to hold shows, etc. West Volusia and Orlando have already offered their grounds at no cost when we are approved by AKC to hold shows.

Adjournment

            Motion made to adjourn by Jody Hill and seconded by Dan Galligan.

            Terry Goldman adjourned the meeting at 4:47 p.m.
